Walk on the old Railway – F.A.C.
FAC is the acronym for “Ferrovia Appennino Centrale” (Central Apennine Railway), a narrow-gauge railway line that connected Arezzo to Fossato di Vico, active from 15 August 1886 (maiden voyage) to 1944. The primary objective was to connect the two most important railway lines in central Italy: Florence/Rome and Rome/Ancona.
The Aretino railway stretch was the most characteristic section, with 20 of the 23 tunnels present in the 134 km of the total development of the railway track. In this walk, we will cover the most significant and rich in history, crossing tunnels and bridges and admiring old abandoned and, in some cases, renovated railway booths.
